Wake up and watch the coffee

Wake up and watch the coffee: I stirred my coffee and filmed the reflections. This is a still from the film (sorry it's blurry but I've never made a film before). I wish I knew more about the fluid dynamics of coffee! [mumble ? vortices ? mumble] Why stirred coffee is and isn't like solar wind, apparently. :-D



The arty bollocks generator says: "As spatial phenomena become frozen through emergent personal practice, the viewer is left with a hymn to our existence."

Thank you! In the film the reflected highlights pulse in and out from a relatively simple ellipse to the complex shape capped above. SCIENCE! :-)

Cuteness! Are you deciding what animal to draw before you start, or starting to draw and seeing what it turns into?

It's a little of both. I started drawing the rabbit just by making a loop that looked a bit like an ear, deciding it was rabbitish, and continuing. The one that I've decided is a cougar kitten started out with the object of being a cat, then I shifted my ideas to go with the shape that emerged, but the whale was always meant to be a whale. ;^)

It's perfect arty bollocks, isn't it? But frozen spatial phenomena would also have fitted the girl of the slide, and even the unusually deep water and the unscrewed screw top of the bottle I drew. That's why the generator has achieved peak arty bollocks and my adherence. ♥

I need one about punching someone in the face today so we'll see how that goes.... :-D

They're all good, and the hare is an excellent suggestion of form (like their own forms imprinted in plants on the ground), but the whale is my favourite.

Thank you! I like doing a sciencey naart. Last time I participated I capped the projected reflections from the surface of a bubble.

Thank you! I also think it looks like a spirograph, and like yarn threaded through holes in cardboard to make a design.

Thank you! It's my favourite of my naarts so far this year. I made a cap of reflections from a washing-up liquid bubble for naarmamo 2014 too. :-)
