I wish I'd managed the cap without the minifigure base but I'm pleased with the way the bridge recedes into a blurry distance.

Ha! The local kids adore that bridge because the pigeons perch on it and the ducks swim under it, and their parents/grandparents like it because the gaps in the wooden framework aren't too big. :-D

i relate to that! i participated in some of those groupos on flickr for a long time, mostly with photos of my vintage dolls and other retro oddities. they are very cheery!

I didn't manage any art today but I hope to have pictures of steam engines tomorrow!

The hard part of today's na'art was deciding. I knew I wanted to do something with letter shapes and words -- but which words to choose? There are so many! In the end, I did this:

It's something I've been thinking about a lot, particularly in terms of new words and identity labels, particularly around gender... And why it makes some people so upset.

I find that slightly visually disturbing (the colours and fonts and balance) but that seems appropriate to fit the meaning.

Hm. I realized, just as I was finishing up, that I had not aligned the letters straight (and that I should have probably set up a grid before I started). ...But it's the spirit of Na'Arts to not worry about perfection.

In any case, that almost-but-not-quite perpendicularity might be contributing to your unease.

And it's also a critique of "Straight" culture... so: unintentional visual pun is unintentional?

I positively *like* "power" leaning forwards as if it's about to zoom! The "N" in "Name" appears off in some way to me but I couldn't define why, sorry. [/useless critique, lol] And I find the colours vaguely unsettling but, as I said in my previous comment, there's nothing inherently wrong with art being unsettling! Maybe I'm just not accustomed to that from you (which would be entirely my problem, lol).

The N is in Garamond font, and the right-hand upright is just slightly off the vertical. Maybe that's it?

Actually, now you've made me look closer, I think it might be a bent diagonal along I N G but I have astigmatism and am viewing on a laptop screen so you should take that with a generous pinch of salt, lol.
