Frost and Fire
Date: 2021-08-17 03:28 pm (UTC)This is taken from a section of one of my earliest fluid art pieces, highly magnified and filtered. The coral-like bits are due to a phenomenon in fluid dynamics called "viscous fingering", which happens when a low-viscosity fluid is injected (or dripped) on a thin layer of a more viscous fluid -- in this case, alcohol ink and acrylic paint. I really must try that technique again, it's pretty cool. So the reason I took this magnified section was that I really wanted to show off that cool coral effect(*), and the first piece I did based on this fluid art didn't really do that.
(*) usually called the dendrites effect by fluid artists, but in this case, it looks more coral-like.

Hope the Facebook group is having more luck. I love seeing the art that you lovely people are making here though, so keep going, and thank you. I'll try to do a bit more soon.
